Sensex ends down 128pts

BS Reporter / Mumbai November 12, 2009, 15:31 IST The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 16,722 - down 128 points. Jan cement sales in high double-digit The Nifty ended (provisional) down 45 points at 4,960. __________________________________________________ (Updated at 1448 hrs) The Sensex has extended its losses and is now at the day"s low of 16,654 - down 195 points. The Nifty is down 58 points at 4,945. ___________________________________________________ (Updated at 1407 hrs) Markets have turned choppy, ignoring the positive news which came in the form of IIP numbers. The Sensex has become volatile and is now down 54 points at 16,796. The Nifty is down 15 points at 4,988. The BSE realty, metal, bankex and PSU indices have dragged the markets. Th realty index is down 2.3% at 3,965 while the IT index has gained 0.83% to 4,674. The market breadth continues to be negative. Out of 2,698 stocks traded 1,354 have declined while 1,252 have advanced. INDEX SHAKERS... Tata Steel has slipped 2% to Rs 516. Sterlite, Jaiprakash Associates, ICICI Bank and SBI are down over 1.5% each at Rs 844, Rs 237, Rs 910 and Rs 2,343, respectively. ...AND THE MOVERS Reliance Communications has advanced 3% to Rs 177. Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel have added over 2% each at Rs 1,471 and Rs 306, respectively. TCS, Wipro, Grasim, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Power, BHEL and ACC are up over 1% each. VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERS... Indiabulls Realestate has topped the vaue chart with a turnover of over Rs 1,601 crore, followed by DLF (Rs 144.83 crore), Educomp Solutions (Rs 127.24 crore), Reliance (rs 124.97 crore) and HDIL (Rs 110.04 crore). The volume chart is being led by Indiabulls Realestate as well, with trades of 66.07 million shares. followed by Suzlon (14.23 million), Mahindra Satyam (7.87 million) and Unitech (6.23 million).
