Thiru Arooran Sugars up 4%
The stock of Thiru Arooran jumped 4 per cent to Rs 165.75, after the government extended by 15 months a deadline for an obligation to export refined sugar against prior raw sugar imports until the March 2011. The move is meant to increase local supplies and rein in prices of the sweetener which rose more than 50 per cent in November 2009 from a year ago due to tight supplies.

Canon India aims Rs 1,100 cr turnover in 2010

Digital imaging company Canon India is targetting a turnover of Rs 1,100 crore during 2010, a growth of 25 per cent compared to last year, a top official today said. - Gail Q3 net jumps over three-fold to Rs 860 cr - Extended timing: Volumes soar 38% on Day 2 - Emami sees Rs 5,000 cr turnover in 5 yrs - PSUs ONGC, SAIL, NTPC get Maharatna status - Commexes turnover jumps by 47.47% till Dec 15 this fiscal - GAIL declares 20% interim dividend The company"s turnover during 2009 calendar year was Rs 842 crore. "We grew by 28 per cent last year. We had set goal for Rs 840 crore, but did Rs 842 crore," Director Consumer System Products Division V P Sajeevan told reporters here today. From the state of Kerala, Canon was aiming at Rs 55 crore turnover as against last year"s Rs 36 crore, he said. Canon will be launching Image centres in five cities in Kerala --Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode by April this year, for which investments are yet to be finalised. E-Governance in Kerala has not kicked off on expected lines so far, while in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu it has been launched successfully. The transparency levels in government offices in those states are very high, he said. The implementation of various e-governance projects would mean there is huge potential for IT products in the state, he said, adding "we have huge expectations from Kerala". Despite recession, Canon India had recruited personnel and launched 88 new products last year.
