Vijay Mallya-led Kingfisher Airlines has posted a loss of Rs 242.71 crore in the first quarter of fiscal 2009-10, as against a loss of Rs 157.87 crore reported during the same period in the previous fiscal.

The revenue of the company in the quarter dropped by six per cent to Rs 1,314 crore when compared with the same quarter a year ago. The company said that despite the sharp cut in capacity during the recent days, it has managed to achieve higher yield.
At the EBITDA level for the quarter, domestic operations earned an operating profit of Rs 18 crore as compared to a loss of Rs 574 crore in Q1 FY"09.
However, on an overall basis the company has incurred an EBITDA loss of Rs 107 crore, including the losses associated with the recent start-up of international operations.
